ABSTRACT :
The study aims to determine the infant 1-12- months of age at Barangay Luksuhin Alfonso, Cavite they are presently and continuously using Bottle feeding method. To determine their feeding practices to provide enough information to mothers and family members about the use of bottle feeding and the occurrence of malnutrition as a result of improper infant feeding. Major Findings: The community utilizes the use of bottle feeding as an artificial method of feeding because of the availability of the mothers to breastfeed due to their work which is the most common influencing factor. Majority of the infant uses water directly coming from the faucet at home and the milk being fed is mainly commercially prepared milk Infants are fed on about 200-300 ml per feeding and around 6x per day with a common interval of 4hours. The nutritional status of infant is considered overweight yet there is no direct effect in their height Conclusion: Bottle feeding used in the community is a potential source of disease because the water being used is prone to bacteria and other microorganisms which are harmful to the body. Most of the infant tends to be overweight due to overfeeding because the mother is not available for feeding and only the relatives are the one taking care of the infant. Recommendation: The researchers recommend this study to serve as a guideline for mothers about
the effect of bottle feeding regarding nutritional status of infant and to serve as a basis for
the Barangay Health Centers and the community to make a program that will decrease
the incidence of malnutrition.
