General note Tourism contributes to economic growth, poverty alleviation, and environmental conservation, but it also has negative impacts that stakeholders in the industry must address. Although tourism is one of the most robust, resilient, and rapidly growing economic sectors worldwide, it is also one of the worst-hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. As the tourism industry takes an unexpected break due to the lockdowns and travel restrictions imposed by countries, stakeholders must consider strategies to align the industry with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This study aims to examine the contribution of community-based tourism (CBT) to the attainment of the SDGs. The study involves a review of five CBT initiatives, both local and foreign. The communities were selected for this study because they were recipients of awards from international organizations to recognize their efforts to maximize the economic, social, and environmental benefits of CBT. The outcomes of the CBT initiatives were matched with the SDGs and the specific targets. The study results show that CBT can indeed contribute to the attainment of all the 17 SDGs.<br/>
