| Summary, etc. | The seven wonders of the ancient world are without question amazing works of art and architecture. They were adored for their awe-inspiring aesthetics and size. Unfortunately, all but one was lost to natural disasters, fire, or war. It is a shame that we will never be able to fully appreciate the beauty and grandeur of such "wonders" as the Colossus of Rhodes, Statue or Zeus at Olympia or the Lighthouse of Alexandria. The sole survivor of these legendary monuments is the Great Pyramid of Giza. These amazing structures embodied the history and art of that culture and losing them to natural disasters is truly a tragedy.<br/><br/>The Seven Wonders of the Modern World are equally heralded for their beauty, creativity, and genius. Even after years of much debate from different writers, the seven wonders still remained on the list. However, in 2007 the "Seven Wonders of the Ancient World" were then replaced with "The Seven Wonders of the Modern World". The "Modern Wonders" include The Great Wall of China, Petra in Jordan, Christ the Redeemer Statue, Peru's Manchu Pachu, Mexico's Chicken Itza Pyramid, Rome's Colosseum and India's Taj Mahal. The luxury of basking in the glory of the lost ancient wonders is not possible, however, the allurement of all the modern wonders is still enjoyable for all. |
