Summary, etc. ABSTRACT :
The study was all about the relationship between functional capacity and non pharmacological interventions in reducing chronic pain to client through nursing care. Pain is any unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue dainage/described in terms of such damage. The main focused of the researcher are the chronic musculosketal pain specifically Osteoarthritis in knee area that has lasted for 6 months or longer.
The study want to answered the following question, what is the profile of the client (Age, Gender, Duration of pain, Pattern of pain), What is the non pharmacologic intervention being used by the client? What is the Functional Capacity of the respondent? What is the relationship between functional and non pharmacologic intervention in reducing chronic pain to client. To be able to answer those questions the researchers used questionnaire regarding the client's functional capacity and non-pharmacological measures the client use in reducing pain as their tool for the collection and completion of data. After the completion of the data the researchers constructed the frequency and distribution, weighted mean and Pearson r of the gathered data to come up to the accurate and significant findings of the study. After collecting and tabulating, the data gathered the researchers find out that most of the clients who are experiencing chronic musculoskeletal; pain belongs to the late adulthood or clients ages 61-above regardless of gender. More clients under female category have higher incidence of chronic musculoskeletal pain. The most common non-pharmacologic intervention that has been used by the clients is the relaxation technique.
ve The researchers come-up with the following recommendations that will help to the existing problems, advice continuity of the usage of non-pharmacological intervention, allow for adequate rest periods, encourage ROM (range of motion) up to the point of pain. Advise to seek for consultation to health care providers when the intensity of pain worsens or there are changes in the pattern or occurrence of pain.
