Ana, Zhienerick Anne M<br/>Camingao, Ayessa Leigh<br/>Cuadra, Francis Paolo A.<br/>Paler, Caswell Massey Y.<br/>Ikan, Liz lanna L.<br/>Ramos, Romelyn T.<br/>Sleep is an impotant biological necessity that all people need to keep a healthy<br/>lifestyle. Researchers state that sleep deprivation is one of the main reasons why<br/>college students receive low academic scores aside from stress which contributes to<br/>sleep deprivation. The study used correlational research design where the researchers<br/>determined the relationship between sleep deprivation and the academic performance<br/>of selected Grade 12 STEM students. The sampling technique used by the researchers<br/>was universal sampling technique. This method refers to the selection of sample where<br/>not all the people in the population have the same profitability of being included in the<br/>sample and each one of them, the probability of being selected is unknown. Selected<br/>students from the grade 12 STEM Were the respondents of the study. The researchers<br/>used frequency, weighted mean, percentage and Pearson r as statistical treatment of<br/>data. The study resulted to these major findings: majority of the respondents are 17 to<br/>18 years old which means that they are appropriate for Grade 12 students; almost of the<br/>respondents are female; majority of the respondents are from section Vega; majority of<br/>the respondents are considered as highly sleep deprived; the researchers found out that<br/>there is positive correlation between sleep deprivation and academic performance. The<br/>results pointed out that the students should prioritize their sleep for their mental health<br/>and academic performance rather than spending time with non-academic activity.<br/>Keywords:<br/>sleep deprivation, academic performance, GPA, STEM |
