| General note | ABSTRACT<br/>This study was Conducted to determine the correlation between mathenmatics<br/>proficiency and academic performance of selected ABM grade 11 students of Olivarez<br/>College Tagaytay Senior High School Department for the school year 2018-2019.<br/>The researcher used correlational research design and descriptive<br/>research design to gather adequate information and inflict obtainable circumstances<br/>and conditions about the correlation between mathematics proficiency and academic<br/>performance of selected ABM grade 11 students. The researcher distributed preliminary<br/>questionnaire adapted namely as the Nebraska State Accountability Questionnaire<br/>(2010), from the Nebraska Department of Education. It consists of twenty-four questions<br/>wherein students will select an answer from among four choices. The other one is the<br/>|Level of Academic Performance in which the respondents will put a check on the box<br/>that corresponds their mathematics average.<br/>In this study, it reveals that the respondents got a developing level of<br/>mathematics proficiency and proficient in terms of academic performance. Using<br/>Pearson Correlation, the computed value is 0.206. The computed value is higher than<br/>the value of .05, therefore accept the null hypothesis; there is no significant relationship<br/>between the mathematics proficiency and academic performance of the respondents.<br/>Therefore, the researchers may conclude that the mathematics ability does not affect<br/>the academic performance of the respondents. |
