500 ## - GENERAL NOTE
General note This study examined the rehabilitative impact of imprisonment o persons deprived of liberty .It specifically sought to determine the perceived effect of incarceration duration on PDL'S behaivior and recovery process and if the detention environment influences them to be a recidivist .Using descriptive research ,data were collected from one hundred fifty (150) randomly selected PDL's at Quezon District Jail ,Lucena City District Jil and Pagbilao District Jail under the bureau of Jail Management and penology. Questionnaires were distributed to the respondents of this study and their responses analyzed using frequency ,weighted mean and raking.

Results showed that length or shortness of time is not determining factor for PDL's to Participate in the rehabilitation program but it depends on their own decision . The detention environment affects the PDL perception of recidivism positively and most of them agreed that incarceration does not serve as a breeding ground for recidism .Like wise ,the PDL's were afflicted in the Variety of Ways. The BJMP offers good service and management which results to more effective supervision of the PDL's progress as hthey actively engage in the recovery services. It is recommended that PDLs must be Closely and effectively monitored for signs of physical and psychological deterioration and corrective action must be made because nearly all of them will eventually return to a free society .The BJMP must also provide counseling to PDL's including psychosocial assistance to analyze their mental and emotional healt and encouraging their colleagues within the jail to assist each of the PDL in coping the effects of their impronsment .
