Summary: Objectives of the Study:The aim of the study is to determine the factors of induced abortion in Munting llog, Silang Cavite. Methodology:The phenomenological study was used in this research. This study was conducted to examine the experience of women who are resorted to abortion. The researchers used purposive sampling which involves “hand picking” of the subject that are related to the study. The semi- structured interview used to determine the factors affecting the cases of induced abortion to answer the specific and to test hypothesis of the study. Major Findings: Abortion is common to teenagers compared with married women. Most of the respondents are teenager who are in early adulthood, who are nor educated enough to be employed in order to provides the needs of the soon to be born baby. Because of financially instability, they opted for abortion. Liberalism as spread in the society, influenced 5 out of 7 respondents about their attitude toward sex, resulting to unwanted pregnancy. However they are not in favor of the legality of abortion for it will only aggravate the case, which affect the moral quality of human life. Conclusion: Beliefs related to sexuality, parenting, legality, economic status, background knowledge of contraception and civil status affected the respondents whether to have abortion or not. Poverty is the common reason since the respondents are not financially stable to provide the necessities of the baby when he or she is born. Also, their attitude toward sex and their lack of knowledge in contraception, led to unwanted pregnancy Recommendation: For the respondents who have unwanted pregnancy, they must be provided with supportive care by assisting the clients to identify and express their feelings why they want to resort to abortion. All women who have unwanted pregnancy should realize the importance of motherhood and value human existence. They must be encouraged family planning. They may be referred to the Barangay Center and the BHW or nurse on duty can render help. The result of the study will be a great help for future researchers with concerning women who have unwanted pregnancy. The researchers can replicate this study to refine, quantify and verify findings.
