ABSTRACT
Statement of the Problem: A. General This study aimed to know the status of implementation of the immunization program as perceived by the Mothers of Brgy. San Vicente I, Silang Cavite. Specific This study sought to answer the following: 1.) What is the demographic data of the respondents? a. Age of the mothers with infants b. Family Monthly Income 2.) Do the children 0-1 year of age in Brgy. San Vicente I, Silang Cavite receives complete vaccines? 3.) How do the following factors affect the implementation of the immunization program? a. Knowledge of the parents b. Attitude of health personnel C. Availability of Vaccine d. Scheduling and timing of immunization
Methodology: The researchers used descriptive research to describe, and discuss the data gathered using self reported questionnaires. The questionnaire was written into Filipino and easy to understand. Findings of the Study: The 31 respondents were grouped in four according to the age bracket, ages 17-22, 24-28, 29-34 and 35-40 years. Most of the respondents were 29 34 years old. Eight of the respondents were 23-28 years old, four of the respondents are 35-40 and three of the respondents were in 17-22 years old. Majority of the respondents earning P 13,001- 14,00 monthly with a frequency of 7, while 19.35% of the respondents have monthly income of P 9,001- 10,000 with a frequency of 6. While P3.001-4,000 and P5.001- 6.000 on the third rank with a frequency of 5 or 16.13% and on the fourth rank earning P7.001-8.000 with a frequency of 4or 12.9%. This study shows that almost all the respondents had completed vaccines on the schedule time. Most of the children aging 0-1 year in Brgy. San Vicente I, Silang Cavite has a complete vaccine with a frequency of 22 or 70.97%, and the respondent has a incomplete vaccine with a frequency of 9 or 29.03%.
Conclusion 1. Based on the result of the study, mothers with infants have a positive perception about the immunization program in Brgy. San Vicente I, Silang Cavite. Based on the findings, the top three answers were all positive, that immunization is an initial prevention for some acquired communicable diseases that their child can get, it is an important thing that their child should have to support his/her growth, and it can help the child to avoid diseases. 2. Most of the infants in Brgy. San Vicente I, Silang Cavite has completed their vaccines according to the requirement of the Health center. 3. Almost all of the vaccines are given to infants except for the measles vaccine because some of the infants were not yet at the right age for it. 4. With regard to the attitude of the health workers the respondents had no problem about it, they said that the health workers are doing their responsibilities. 5. The most common reason why some of the infants are still unvaccinated even they are in the right age for vaccination was because health center lacks supply of logistics that can be used for the immunization program and it also lacks available vaccines for the said.
Recommendation 1. The researchers recommend to the Brgy. Officials of San Vicente I, Silang Cavite to provide the vaccines needed in advance so that the infants will not be rescheduled for long period of time and be the reason of the parents to be forget the scheduled date for vaccination. 2. The researchers recommend to the Health Workers of Brgy. San Vicente I, Silang Cavite to continue the good work that they have started in the community and to religiously do their responsibilities to the community. 3. Evaluation of the immunization program should be properly monitored by the concerned authorities. There is a need to find out the reaction of parents and other community members concerned that hinder the perfect implementation of this program. 4. The parents must be well-informed about the importance of immunization of their infants. They should also be motivated to regularly bring their babies to the health center during the scheduled time or day of vaccination 5. It is also recommended that a parallel study be conducted in the same or even in other areas with focus on the effectiveness of the different types of vaccines. The study may also utilize a wider range of respondents and a longer time of study.
