ABSTRACT
THE PROBLEM
The main study area is Family Problems and the Academic Performance of
the Selected Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences Students of Olivarez
College Tagaytay S.Y 2018-2019" and the objective of the study was to: (1) identify
the family problems encountered by the selected Grade 12 Humanities and Social
Sciences students of Olivarez College Tagaytay, (2) determine the level of
academic performance of the selected Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences
students of Olivarez College Tagaytay, (3) know if there is a significant relationship
between family problems and the academic performance of the selected Grade 12
Humanities and Social Sciences students of Olivarez College Tagaytay. The
research study is to bring awareness on how family problems is related to the
academic performance of the students.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
The research methodology used quantitative methodology and descriptive
correlation research design techniques are necessary tool for illuminating how the
Family Problems and the Academic Performance of the Selected Grade 12 HUMSS
Students are related to each other. The researchers used Nonprobability Sampling
method thru Purposive Snowball sampling which relies upon convenience and
access. The respondents were Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences students,
they were approached asked to test the Family Problems and the Academic
Performance of the Selected Grade 12 HUMSS Students, then, given questionnaire
used in the data-gathering technique. Data were treated using Percentage and
Frequency Distribution, Standard Deviation, Pearson-r, and Weighted Mean.
