ABSTRACT
This study was Conducted to determine the correlation between mathenmatics
proficiency and academic performance of selected ABM grade 11 students of Olivarez
College Tagaytay Senior High School Department for the school year 2018-2019.
The researcher used correlational research design and descriptive
research design to gather adequate information and inflict obtainable circumstances
and conditions about the correlation between mathematics proficiency and academic
performance of selected ABM grade 11 students. The researcher distributed preliminary
questionnaire adapted namely as the Nebraska State Accountability Questionnaire
(2010), from the Nebraska Department of Education. It consists of twenty-four questions
wherein students will select an answer from among four choices. The other one is the
|Level of Academic Performance in which the respondents will put a check on the box
that corresponds their mathematics average.
In this study, it reveals that the respondents got a developing level of
mathematics proficiency and proficient in terms of academic performance. Using
Pearson Correlation, the computed value is 0.206. The computed value is higher than
the value of .05, therefore accept the null hypothesis; there is no significant relationship
between the mathematics proficiency and academic performance of the respondents.
Therefore, the researchers may conclude that the mathematics ability does not affect
the academic performance of the respondents.
