Pajo, Alfonso, Cavite . Methodology: The study used a descriptive design to determine the certain factors on current conditions about the nature of group or individuals. There were 59 male and 59 female respondents. There were three age groups used in the study: Young adult, Middle adult and Late adult. Forty respondents were young adults, 40 were middle adult, while 38 respondents belonged to the age group. Random sampling using lottery technique was used to determine the subjects. A self report questionnaire was used for data gathering, which provided with options that ranged from the scale of 5 to 1. Statistical treatments used were weighted mean, chi-square, and degree of freedom. The data gathered were tallied, analyzed and presented in tabulated form. Major Findings: The results revealed that most of the respondents had different perceptions about HIV. Majority of the respondents responses were either agree or disagree with a mean of 2.7 to 3.4. Most of the respondents agreed that using contaminated needles is one way to transmit HIV from one person to another. Middle adult has the highest overall average mean (2.93) among the age groups. Conclusion: Overall, the factors, such as gender (male, female), Age group ( young adult, middle adult, and Late adult) had different perceptions on HIV. Study showed that almost all of the respondents knew that one way to transmit HIV is to use contaminated needles. Most of the respondents had an average equivalent mean of either agree or disagree. Although Late adult had different overall perception, the overall perception for late adult was disagree. The age of late adult ranged from 60 and above. Recommendation: Based on the findings and conclusions derived from this study, the researchers would like to recommend the following: 1. The Nursing students of Olivarez College Tagaytay should have more knowledge and information during their community integration in the presentation and management of AIDS/ HIV. 2. The respondents should be more knowledgeable and to encourage he respondents to participate on the recommended programs (seminar about HIV) of the researchers to help them be more aware about the prevention and management of AIDS/ HIV. 3. The health workers, should provide more information and guidelines and impart knowledge about AIDS/HIV from the respondents of Brgy. Pajo, Alfonso, Cavite. 4. The researcher further recommend that another study of the same nature be conducted to be used as reference material by other students who are interested to conduct related studies. ER -
