Their learning were measured by actually putting them in the field. One of these areas is the operating room wherein aseptic technique are practiced strictly. The researchers focuses in this area because operating room is one of the most stressful area not only to the students but even to the nurses who are already licensed. The level of anxiety can fluctuate overtime in response to both internal and external stimulation It is also associated with the general sense of incompetence. The favored passive approach seems to result from disbelief that a more active approach would be of any value. Students lacking confidence fail to engage actively with the material, thus fail to internalize concepts and then do poorly on assignments, thereby reinforcing the feeling of incompetence at the core of the cycle. The insecurity builds upon itself leading the student eventually to give up. Nursing as a course in college is difficult because it deals with medical subjects, match more as a profession because it involves interpersonal relationship between the doctor and the nurse, the patient and the nurse. Students majoring in nursing are often faced with dynamic, stressful and demanding situations in their clinical education. A lot of these situations include: using technical skills, managing higher acquity patients, integrating didactic theory into the clinical setting, long and early hours in the clinical setting, and dealing with staff who may or may not be accommodating in having the presence of student nurses on their unit. All of these situations and a lot more, lead to heightened sense of anxiety among nursing students as they begin their clinical rotation of the nursing programs especially those students enrolled in medical and surgical duties. On the other hand, students will be exposing in operating room must perform tasks that need a lot of concentration. This because it is observed that after each case, students that had assisted are stressed physically, mentally and emotionally. Statement of the Problem This study aimed to analyze the stress experienced and coping mechanisms of junior nursing students of Olivarez College in Operating Room. The study serves to answer the following questions: 1. What is the demographic profile of third year nursing students in terms of: > Age > Civil status > Gender 2. What is the level of anxiety of the junior students exposed in .Operating Room? 3. What are the coping mechanisms used by the third year nursing students exposed in Operating Room? 4. Is there a relationship between level of anxiety and coping mechanisms of third year nursing students exposed in Operating Room? Summary of Methodology: The researchers made a descriptive correlational type of research methodology. According to Fain (2004), the purpose of a descriptive correlational study is to describe and explained the nature of existing relationship, without necessarily clarifying the underlying causal factors in the relationship. It is a design that distributes the nature of a situation as it exists at the time of the study and explores the course of particular phenomena to discover facts in which professional judgment could be based. The researchers examine the strength of relationship between variables by determining how changes in one variable are Опе associated with changes in another variable. The researchers examine and report things the way they are in an effort to understand and explain them. The researchers conducted a study in Olivarez College, a private, non-sectarian, and stock-profit educational institution conceived and established in the belief that providing educational opportunities for the masses is the best legacy one can offer to the Filipino nation and the world. A family-owned educational institution committed to the intellectual, cultural, moral and physical development of its students. It also envisions the enhancement of the welfare and social well-being of the community. The researchers used likert scale to measure the outcome of the respondent's response in the study. . Likert Scale is a composite measure of response involving the summation of scores on a set of items that are rated by respondents for their degree of agreement and disagreement Focus- group discussion was utilized to gather information about the coping mechanisms of respondents. The researcher gathered 10-15 BSN III students and formulated 5 open-ended questions to be able to get their coping mechanism during their exposure in the operating room.
