ABSTRACT
English is the second language of Filipinos. Some of the students does not have
confidence when speaking in English. Sometimes they are shy because their grammar
might be wrong, but they also do not know that it can affect their personal skills and ability
if they have lack of confidence in speaking English. This study utilizes Qualitative
Descriptive design, where the researchers involve gathering of data that describe the
events then organized, tabulated, interpreted, and describe the data collection, which is
aimed at finding out "what is" through observations and test methods through descriptive
data. The researchers used frequency, percentage and mean score as statistical
treatment of the data. The statement "My friends are boosting my self- confident to face
other people" got the highest mean score of 3.0 with the interpretation of confident. This
indicate that peers is one of the factors that affect their confidence while speaking English.
Contrary to this, the statements "l am not shy to face other while speaking English
language", "I am confident when I am speaking English language in front of many' and "1
am fluent in speaking English language" got the lowest mean score of 2.3 interpreted as
slightly confident. The overall mean score is 2.6 with the interpretation of confident. It is
concluded that the respondents are most likely to be confident in speaking English under
the said factors.
