ABSTRACT
General Objective
This study aims to find out the three most common complications of pregnancy among the patients in General Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Hospital.
Methodology:
This research method design used in the descriptive method in the form of survey. Survey in the form of census where it covers the entire population. Moreover, the census used is a census of tangibles since it covers a small population where the variables are concrete. The medical record of the patients in General Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Hospital an instruments in gathering information. Data gathering is done through a document analysis. Researchers used simple frequency table and statistical tools. Bar graph is used to represents the magnitude of quantities of the complication.
Findings of the Study: The most common complication of pregnancy in General Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Hospital are abortion, pregnancy-induced hypertension, ectopic pregnancy, placenta previa, and abruption placenta. Each complication has different causes, 67.73% of complete abortion is caused by abnormalities in fetoplacental development and 32.27% is caused by early pregnancy. In missed abortion, it is cause by fetoplacental development. Incomplete abortion is cause by late pregnancies for those women who had two or more spontaneous abortion. The threatened abortions were cause by strenuous activity and by accident. Inevitable abortion is caused by tubal drainage from previous tubal surgery and hormonal factors. Each complication had different management. Dilatation curettage, completion curettage for the abortion. In pregnancy induced hypertension, anti hypertensive drugs are given.
Conclusion:
There is significant difference in the three most common complications of pregnancy among the patients in GEAMH. The three most common complications of pregnancy are abortion, next is
pregnancy induced hypertension and ectopic pregnancy. In this study each complication has different causes and different medical management.
Recommendation: The recommendations for the future studies are to educate the public about the complications of pregnancy and prevention, which can enhance their knowledge and the health of pregnant women. The future researchers must encourage the pregnant women to have prenatal checkup to monitor their needs. This research will give contribution to the hospital administration to pick up easily the most common complications so that the hospital will focus on the most common complications of pregnancy to easily provide things and medicines that are necessary.
