One type of research that is expected of every teacher to be evidence-based in practice is action research, a term coined by Kurt Lewin in 1944. Two big words - "action" and "research". As the name suggests, one who is engaged in action research does research on how to address a problem and takes action based on research to solve a problem. At present, teacher education students are required conduct an action research in their last academic year. This serves as a preparation for the conduct of action researches expected of them once they get employed as professional teachers. To foster a research culture, the Department of Education issued DO No. 16 s. 2017 titled Research Management Guidelines (RMG) and DO 14, s. 2022 to establish Saliksik as its official portal of education research. The DepEd continues to strengthen its research culture by institutionalizing Quality Control Checklist (QCC) for completed basic and action research. The QCC provides specific criteria that can be utilized as a tool in evaluating the quality of completed researches. DepEd's QCC for completed action research cites 4 criteria for completed action research. | ||
