500			_aThe DepEd has well responded to current realties while anticipating future scenarios in Philippine basic education. It has revisited the BEC curriculum and has programmed an integration approach to optimize basic education through inclusion of relevant and significant disciplines as a holistic approach to update teaching-and-learning along the demands of 21s century education. Forthcoming DepEd reforms will entail supporting the BEC curriculum with SikaP (Sibika, Sining at Kultura, Kasaysayan at Kagalingang Pangkatawan) in the K-to3 grades and MAPEH (Music, Arts, Physical Education and Health Education) in the 4-10 grades. This paper will focus on Shaping Papers issued by the DepEd that cover curriculum framework, structures and other matters. This will justify the multidisciplinary approach in the main disciplines of Physical Education and Health (PE & H), Music and Arts (M & A), and Araling Panlipunan (AP) or Social Studies.
